Another Successful Event!

On March 20, 2022, Nkongsamba Children held its second scholarship event. Through the generosity of its donors, Nkongsamba Children awarded scholarships to 78 middle and high school students ranging from $90 to $180.

Nkongsamba Children distributed the scholarships as follows:

  • 15 students received $180,
  • 20 received $150,
  • 20 received $120,
  • 23 received $90.

Additionally, Nkongsamba Children donated food supplies and other necessaries to two orphanages amounting to $950.

The students and their family were overwhelmed by emotions and expressed their appreciation for your generous donations. Together with them, Nkongsamba Children thanks all donors for providing these kids with means to keep their dreams alive.

One Step at a Time We Are Reaching Our Goals

When we started this we had three goals: (1) provide as many underprivileged kids as possible an opportunity to stay in school; (2) getting 100% of kids who had abandoned school because they could not afford it back to school; and (3) provide scholarships to 2 or 3 kids every year to attend a university in the United States.

Because of your generosity, we have now reached our first goal two years in the row. In 2019-2020, we were able to help 99 students pay (in full or at least in part) for their schools dues for the year; and we donated to a couple of orphanages and kindergarten. In 2021-2022, despite a delay in our fundraising efforts, we were able to help 78 students pay (in full or at least in part) for their schools dues. We hope to continue this successful trend.

Based on our discussions with school principals, we are making good progress toward our second goal. The principals of six out of the eight schools who participated in the first event expressed that they are seeing many kids who had left school to help their parents in farming or street commerce come back to school. Most of the kids have expressed they were motivated to come back because they heard of Nkongsamba Children and know they may get some assistance if they work hard and do good at school.

We are still working on our second goal are welcoming any support, ideas, or suggestions that would allow to reach it.

Looking Forward to 2023

Because it is never too early to start preparing, our fundraising toward our 2023 event begins now. Accordingly, we continue to appeal to your generosity. Please, use the donate button or our Venmo account on our webpage to make any donation.

As always, no contribution is too small and any contribution would be highly appreciated in this effort to provide Nkongsamba’s children with a better opportunity to an education. A contribution of:

  • $35 will pay for a kid’s lunch for a month or for one set of uniform for a kid for the year;
  • $75 will pay for a kid’s book for a year;
  • $140 will pay for a kid’s fees and tuition for a year;
  • $250 will pay for a kid’s fees and tuition, uniform, and books for the entire year.

Additionally, we welcome any donation of used equipment that could be utilized in computer rooms (including used computers, laptops, and other computer related equipment). The ratio for computer rooms is typically one computer (often a defective or outdated computer) per 100 students.
